Clarence Laverne Stewart

Clarence L. Stewart passed away December 14th, 2024. He was 82 years old. He was born on August 21st, 1942 in Longview, WA to Melvin and Lois Stewart. As a young boy, he lived in Idaho, then moved to Chehalis and attended RE Bennett grade school. He graduated from Toledo High School in 1960. 

Clarence went to work for the National Bank of Commerce. In 1964, he was drafted into the Army for 2 years, serving one year in Vietnam. In 1966, he went back to work for NBC while also attending Centralia College. He graduated from CC with an Associate of Arts in business.

 In 1969, Clarence married the love of his life, Cindy. They had a wonderful marriage for 55 years. Clarence and Cindy had two children, Brandon (Jody) Stewart, and Lynae (Rick) Beaber. They were blessed with five grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and three step grandchildren. Clarence loved all his family, and they were always his first priority.

Clarence continued working for NBC, three and a half years in Moses Lake and one year in Olympia. He sold real estate for 5 years and had a Broker’s license. Clarence went to work for Security State Bank and spent 17 years managing the branch in Morton, retiring to Chehalis in 2000. He was a member and former president of the Lions Club and the Chamber of Commerce. He was also a member of Toast Masters and the Morton Scholarship Committee. 

Clarence loved camping, hunting, fishing, poker, his garage and tools, clam digging, country music, and John Deere collectables. He loved spending time with his family and was beloved by all. Clarence had a quiet manner and was always the gentleman. 

Clarence was preceded in death by his wife Cindy, his parents, brother Rod Stewart, sisters-in-law Susan Tippery and Lyn Chuinard, and brother-in-law Tom Marty. He is survived by his two children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sister Sherrie Marty, numerous brothers and sisters in law, nieces, nephews, and cousins he was very close to.

 He will be missed by all.
