Eugene Limen Vocu, surrounded by family, went home on September 20, 2023, he was 96 years young.
Gene was born January 13, 1927 in Boise, Idaho, where his parents, Charles and Mary raised him and his three younger sisters.
As a boy, Gene loved exploring with his dog Freckles by his side. He excelled in school, both as an athlete and in academics. While in ROTC, Gene was called up to serve in the Army Air Core, during WWll. When it became clear that America no longer had enough planes for her airmen, he was released from duty. Gene then immediately enlisted in the infantry, where he served as a Tech Sergeant for his unit. After WWll, Gene went on to become a surveyor and civil engineer, a career that would span his lifetime.
Gene was father to four children five stepchildren, and extremely proud of his many grandchildren great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He was well like and made friends wherever he went. Gene loved music of all kinds; he enjoyed dancing, golf, chess, and of course cheering for his favorite team, the San Francisco 49ers.
Gene will be laid to rest with an honor guard detail beside his beloved wife, Rosie, at Willamette National Cemetery.
