Mary Ann Yaple, 75, of Kelso, Wash., passed away Saturday, January 8, 2022, at Peace Health St. John Medical Center in Longview, Wash.
Mary was born August 20, 1947, in Missoula, Mont., to Joseph and Imajene Laverdure, and was a member of the Little Shell Tribe of Chippewa Indians. She married Richard Yaple January 1, 1975, at Freeman Park in Kelso, and earned her Bachelor’s Degree at Evergreen College for Nursing in Vancouver, Wash., in 1980.
Mary was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints’ Castle Rock Ward and a quilting club in Kelso. She was awarded Woman of the Year at Lewis Clark Bowman in 2001.
Mary loved her family and enjoyed being a grandma. She was always there for the people she loved, and was a very focused and determined woman. She enjoyed sewing, tactical and intricate beading, gardening and tending roses, cooking, genealogy, crocheting and knitting, fishing, travelling, and hunting.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Yaple of Kelso; two children; three step-children; eleven grandchildren; seven great- grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
