Mary (Kathy) Katherine Blaylock

November 25, 1957 — March 9, 2025

Olympia

Mary Katherine Blaylock, known as Kathy, was born to Cedric and Miriam Henderson on November 25, 1957, in San Bernardino, California. She passed away in her beautiful home in Boston Harbor, Olympia, Washington, on Sunday March 9, 2025.

In 2007, Kathy met the love of her life, Paul Gibson, over a coffee date and never looked back.

A deeply spiritual woman, Kathy was known to converse with God and was devoted to reading the scripture. She found joy in the simple things—a hot cup of coffee shared with Paul in the comfort of their home and their two beloved cats, Annie and Tink. She had a special fondness for flowers, particularly irises and carnations, and a love for animals, especially horses. She cherished the scents of apple and pine and filled her home with her collections: tea kettles, wicker baskets and pinecones. Kathy also enjoyed expressing her creativity through doodling, coloring, or experimenting with new recipes.

Kathy’s life was a testament of hard work and perseverance, from fighting forest fires in Northern California to her 26-year career at Walmart. Her infectious smile touched the lives of many colleagues throughout her career.

Kathy is survived by her older brother, James Henderson, and younger sisters, Linda Chastain and Gayle Henderson, her three daughters, Catherine Bowles, Hanna Johnson, and Lisa Blaylock, her son, Jordan Blaylock and seven beloved grandchildren: Rebekah, Ellaina, William, Jordan, Maisie, Finnley and Aida, along with her great-granddaughter, Octavia Grace. Kathy was also a cherished aunt to her five nephews.

Her family will carry on her legacy of faith, creativity, and love of nature. She is deeply missed, but forever in our hearts.
