Patricia Judy Mallatt, the daughter of Dyarl Dee Burns and Mary Magdalene Burns, was born 12 September 1939 in Santa Cruz, California, and christened in the Baptist Church in Piercy, Mendocino County, California. Patricia peacefully passed away on 2 March 2025 at the age of 85 in Centralia, Washington.
Patricia had seven siblings: six brothers: Dyarl Burns, Bobby Burns, Doug Burns, Wesley Burns, John Burns, and Kenny Burns; and sister Lea Lucero.
Patricia grew up in northern California, graduated from South Fork High School in Miranda. She married Robert Scribner on 2 June 1956, and they lived in various towns in Humboldt and Mendocino County, California, before moving to Santa Cruz, California in 1962.
Patricia and Robert had four children: William Scribner, a current resident of northern California; and Barbara Anderson, Darrell (David) Scribner, and John Scribner, residing in Washington State.
Patricia received certification as a nursing assistant in 1976 and worked as a nurse’s assistant in Santa Cruz. Patricia moved from California to Washington State in 2000 and has been a resident of Centralia for the past 25 years.
Patricia was preceded in death by her parents and three of her brothers, Dyarl, Bobby, and Wesley.
In addition to her four surviving children, Patricia is also survived by nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and several step-children.
She was known by many as Mom, and as Grandma by many more. She loved to make jam, crochet, knit, and paint dish towels, but it gave her more joy to give those things away to her family, friends, and neighbors. She will be remembered as kind, generous, and very loving.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to your local food bank.
