Robert Graydon Boner, 72, passed away December 28, 2021, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Longview, WA, after battling prostate cancer for fifteen years. He was born April 29, 1949, in Anacortes, WA, to Robert Wayne and Elizabeth Josephine Boner.
Robert graduated from Anacortes High School in 1968. During his summer breaks the last three years of high school he went commercial fishing in southeast Alaska. He went on to attend Skagit Valley College majoring in art. After college he worked for Publisher’s Paper Co. in Anacortes, WA, as press operator, oiler and apprentice millwright until the mill closed in December 1980. He then worked in construction until 1990 when he went to work for Georgia Pacific in Bellingham, WA, as a journeyman millwright. He transferred to the Camas, WA mill in 2001 and to the Wauna, OR mill in 2004 where he worked until his retirement in 2008.
Robert loved the outdoors, going hunting and fishing whenever he could. Autumn was his favorite time of year. He also spent many hours in his workshop working on his model trains. A gregarious and outgoing person, he enjoyed striking up conversations and sharing his abundant sense of humor.
Robert is survived by his wife of 50 years Susan, daughter Andrea, sister Rebecca (Phillip) Fowler, brother Gregory, and numerous nieces and nephews. Robert was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter Christa.
