Thelma Jean Boren age 73 of Kelso, Washington passed away on March 7, 2023 in Longview, Washington
She was born in Medford, Oregon on November 26, 1949 to Leonard and Alma (Loomis) Heitkemper. As a child, they moved to the Kelso area where she graduated from Kelso High School
Thelma (Ginger to all her friends) never owned a drivers license or a car but that never stopped her. She walked everywhere, everyday, rain or shine until her health took a turn and she could find her engrossed in some true crime TV shows or movies. She loved board games or a good game of darts. Her sweet tooth was insatiable and could never get enough chocolate.
She loved animals. The last few years she “adopted a pet” squirrel she name Rocky. Feeding Rocky everyday was the highlight of her day.
People were always surprised by her quick wit and funny sense of humor. Kindness, compassion and loyalty to her family and close friends were very important to her. Often times you would find her tapping her toes to some oldies but goodies. She was partial to Elvis Presley and a country music guitar player (Uncle Lyndel)
We are eternally grateful that right before she transitioned, she accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior. We know all the struggles she endured are over and have been ushered into the arms of our Lord in paradise
Thelma is survived by her two daughters Sheila Brown of Haines City, Florida and Twileena Bean of Longview, Washington. A sister Linda Heitkemper of Kelso and a granddaughter Kaylee Boren of Longview
She is preceded in death by her parents and sisters Sharon Miller and JoAnne Griffin
A celebration of her life will be held at Steele Chapel on Sunday, March 12, at 2pm with Tom Grasser officiating
